As an Online English Teacher, I am responsible for planning, preparing and delivering online English lessons to groups of Chinese students alongside First Leap China. I teach classes of up to 8 students, aged between 5 and 12 years old using an online platform. My role is to help pupils improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills whilst maintaining their motivation and engagement in their language goals. I currently work as a student ambassador which involves working with the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation teams at the University. I work with students from primary school age upwards delivering activities which aim to promote and provide more information on Higher Education to young people from under-represented groups. Volunteer care assistant for children and young people with disabilities

I volunteer with a charity called HCPT which involves taking a group of disabled and disadvantaged children on a week-long residential trip to Lourdes, France. My main role is to care for these children who have a variety of physical, emotional, and social needs. As part of this role I have also gained knowledge of first aid, child protection and health and safety through attending multiple training sessions. I demonstrated my ability to work in a large group which developed my problem solving, team building and leadership skills. This experience required me to work long hours, including night shifts, whilst remaining enthusiastic and promoting a positive morale within the team.

Speak with IT, a Yorkshire based charity which works with adults suffering from aphasia as a result of a stroke. My role involved visiting my clients in their home and supporting them to work on their language goals using a variety of computer therapy programs alongside supported conversation techniques. I found that patience and perseverance are incredibly important, and I improved my ability to be empathetic and understanding to help keep my client motivated and gain their trust. After encountering obstacles, I learned the importance of remaining patient and can apply my problem-solving skills and creativity to create original ways to help my one of my clients overcome his difficulties
