Business Intelligence Consultant, Hands on BI Designer/Developer
Shawbrook Bank.
London (Contract) April 15 - April 16
Shawbrook is an award winning "challenger bank" providing personal and commercial retail banking.
Business Intelligence Consultant, Hands on BI Designer/Developer
• SQL Server 2008R2/2012 (SSIS / SSAS / SSRS) • C# / TFS
• Oracle 11g / SAS / Qlikview • Jira / Confluence
I designed and lead the development of a new Asset Finance DataMart following the acquisition of Singers Asset Finance.
The Kimble DataMart provides several snapshot fact tables derived from a single accumulating snapshot of monetary
flows. The main challenges were in handling changes to the loan terms and the effect on amortisation schedules and the various dependent calculations. The data are used both internally and for regulatory reporting.
Worked within an agile team of fifteen to design and build a payment hub to centrally manage outbound money transfer from five distinct business units. I developed the hub using a combination of SQL Stored Procedures, SSIS and C# for
SWIFT messaging file format to XML conversion. The solution integrates with BottomLine's WebSeries, RBS BankLine and LloydsLink. Payment Status reports and Bank Reconciliation reports are developed using SSRS.
I inherited the development and support of the Target Result DataMart for forbearance and risk reporting of commercial
mortgages. Worked closely with risk analysts to understand and satisfy their reporting requirements using SSRS and SAS.
Made changes to Payments, Journals, Pay-out reports and remittances for Secured Lending to support ESIS Fees under the Mortgage Credit Directive (MCD). This work involved changes to the database schema, Stored Procedures and SSRS.
BAU support and development of the Operational Data Store and the Data Warehouse along with related ETL processes.
Corrected performance problems and assisted the DBA. Worked with reporting users to fix and improve SSRS and Qlikview reports, data exports and email alerts. Improved BAU support by avidly contributing to the Confluence wiki.

2014 - 2015
freelance
Business Intelligence Consultant, Hands on BI Designer/Developer
Vodafone.
Canary Wharf (Contract) November 14 - April 15
Interoute is the owner operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform.
Business Intelligence Consultant, Hands on BI Designer/Developer
• SQL Server 2008R2 (SSIS / SSAS / SSRS) • C# / WCF & TFS
I was contracted by Interoute to redesign and add new functionality to the Call Mediation Business Intelligence solution.
Call Mediation involves retrieving CDR (Call Disconnect Records) from Interoute's European IP network, the main
customer of which is Vodafone with around 20 million CDRs per day. The BI solution provides billing, customer querying
via the MyServices Customer Portal, OLAP data analysis and fraud detection.
I worked closely with the Call Mediation manager, participating in project meetings to produce a new design for the OLAP
reporting. My new design required me to design and develop a new Kimball Data Warehouse with high performance,
resilient ETL. Data arrive directly from the IP network and contain highly variable call lengths and destinations. At peak
times a single 5 minute data load consists of around 200,000 CDRs. My design had to be highly resilient as problems in the load soon cause data to accumulate, creating a large backlog and a support task to fix the load and reload the backlog.
I created a new SSAS cube to support the querying of multiple days of 20 million+ CDR records. As with the Data
Warehouse design, I followed industry best practice where possible and devised my own solutions where no body of
knowledge existed. My new design includes new dimension requirements, automatic partition management, fast and
reliable incremental loading and optimised aggregations. The new cube replaces three existing cubes, that were optimised to perform slightly differing roles, and surpasses all three in performance and functionality.
