I'm offering
Pragmatic creativity: graphic design is only good design when it offers a solution that the client both needs and wants – I deliver intelligent and memorable ideas that tick both boxes.
Broad experience: I work across print, digital and branding – on everything from posters and brochures to complete reinventions of an organisation’s graphic profile and ‘from scratch’ branding projects.
Flexibility: my design style is distinctive but not ‘one size fits all’. Having worked for lots of different types of business – from corporate to sole traders, from editorial to commercial – I understand how to tailor my work to fit the requirements of a particular project and sector.
A clear aesthetic: I focus on finding the simplest way to communicate an idea – stripping back more than adding in. Type treatments and a bold use of colour are frequent flyers, as is a degree of playfulness.
Technical know-how: I have all the skills you’d expect of a creative director, including an expert understanding of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat. I also know enough to work effectively with printers, web and UX/UI designers, and photographers.
Patience: I pride myself on being able to help create the kind of collaborative client relationships that fuel strong, purposeful work.

My experience
2008 - ?
job
Creative and graphic designer, 2008–present
Special Design Studio.
I started my own practice in order to work more closely with clients, who have come from many different sectors, and are geographically spread across East Anglia, London and Paris. Clients include Leiths School of Food and Wine, RSPB, the East Anglian Art Fund, La Cuisine Paris, University of Cambridge Museums, St. Giles gin company and Crown Point Estate.
Through Special Design Studio I have worked on a huge range of projects – from a new website for East Anglia’s biggest contemporary arts gallery and an above-the-line advertising campaign for one of the UK’s leading culinary schools. What remains at the core of any project I work on is a genuine interest in what the client needs to achieve. Good design is not an accident, and organisations can be transformed by it. That’s where the magic lies for me, as well as in building relationships with a range of interesting businesses.
