Marketing Consultant
CreditSights.
• Develop scaleable marketing function for European business
• Marketing lead on product launch incorporating AI
• Mentoring internal candidate to take on digital marketing role
• Content-driven marketing programmes across social media, newsletters and paid advertising
CreditSights is a leading provider of credit research and despite having operated for nearly 20 years, it had no formalised marketing function. The business needed a more scalable marketing function to help achieve its ambitious targets.
In addition to a product launch, a major focus was the development with my sales team to develop a new business area within the financial services sector. I created highly targeted campaigns on social media (primarily Linkedin) to generate leads, following up with marketing automation and lead scoring to tie in with targeted sales efforts. The ultimate aim was to develop an internal candidate (previously focused on events) to take on a wider digital marketing role going forward.
During the course of six months or so we were able to start formulating a cost per lead - although this discussion was still at a very early stage. From a sales team that was underperforming at the start of 2020, we were able to provide a solid framework and professionalised structure for the marketing to support business growth going forward.

Marketing Manager
Debt Explained.
Part-time, contract
• Launch of marketing function with website redesign, CMS, social media and content-driven programmes. Using specialised data provider on leveraged loan and high yield bond market
• Growth hacking using free and unique content to create large opt in database of sales prospects, social media presence and PR opportunities
Debt Explained had an extensive database designed and populated by lawyers with sales historically driven by the founder's contacts. To take the company to the next stage, we oversaw a brand refresh introducing a CMS for the website, monthly newsletter and social media to communicate our messages. With no formal marketing budget, I quickly focused on content marketing as our strategy. Key to this was creating actionable and relevant content from the database and utilising more visual elements to drive the programme.
Debt Explained was founded in 2007 but was dormant for several years. When I joined in 2016, revenue was c. £1m. During my tenure revenue more than doubled culminating in a sale to a US, private-equity backed firm, Reorg.

Editor and founder, Time & Leisure Junior
www.timeandleisurejunior.co.uk
Primarily as a hobby, I run a magazine and website for families in South West London. It is a combination of my content/marketing experience with my personal circumstances as a parent. I have enjoyed the challenge of setting up and running my own business (under license with a local magazine, Time & Leisure). In particular I have enjoyed the opportunity to apply marketing skills to a B2C audience and wider social media channels - ie Facebook and Instagram.
The magazine relies heavily on channel partners for distribution, ie schools, and I have direct experience of selling into local businesses. It has given me new-found respect and understanding of the sales challenges for all businesses.
