Responsibilities
Headed up all planning and development of tasks ranging from Bridge construction to complete Base
builds incorporating all service requirements i.e. Water, sanitation, Defence, Accommodation, Drainage,
Traffic management to name a few.
Tasked with liaising with foreign national contractors on a number of projects bridging the gap between
UK forces and Iraq and Afghanistan contractors.
Brought projects through initial plan to finished commissioned developments.
I had to give accurate reports daily of works ensuring all stakeholders where aware of progress problems and how we resolved issues allowing other Sgt's to learn from my builds.
In command of over 60 persons from all trades ranging from Plant to Plumbers always understood
their role with myself having 4 corporals under my command ensuring my plan was been implemented
correctly and above all professionally, on time and with minimal disruption to local population.
Accomplishments:
Over 30 projects under my supervision completed ranging from the largest timber bridge ever built by the Royal Engineers in Afghanistan allowing the local population safe passage to trade, gaining the respect of the elders in a very volatile situation and time a win in my career.
Reaching the rank of Sgt in only 11 years a feet many soldiers fail to obtain in 20 years.
Before leaving I was selected to train the new Armoured Engineers of 2014 onwards a honour only given
to 6 Sgt's every 3 years, selected from a pool of over 100 Armoured Engineer Sgt's.
Every reporting period has always read well, driving me forward and keeping the military ethos close to my chest.
I have personally man managed over 60 soldiers giving them the confidence to push on their own careers
and develop into well motivated intelligent Royal Engineers with the confidence and moral courage to always do what is right not what the easiest option is.
