SALFORD ROYAL NHS FOUNDATION TRUST.
Representing VIQU Consultancy Services, offering technical assurance, strategic guidance, and high-level support during a mission critical migration from an existing XenApp 6.5 environment to a new XenApp 7.6 LTSR solution hosting 4,000+ users. Key areas of responsibility:
1. Performed a health check and review of the proposed new environment; produced a comprehensive report detailing the areas of concern along with remediation recommendations
2. Implement the recommended changes; VDA Optimizations, GPO changes, etc.
3. Produced solutions to the following challenges:
a. Migrate existing 2008R2 User Profiles from old to new environment, had to utilize a bespoke technique to facility this as the profile codebase between 2008R2 and 2012R2 are incompatible
b. Ensure that User Disconnect/Idle timeouts can be targeted and filtered per User Groups, previously their strategy was to rollout specific Worker group VMs
c. PNA Shortcut targeting has changed between IMA and FMA - it is now more challenging to facilitate, I developed a framework solution which facilitate only one icon being generated on the client's start menu without using complex workarounds
4. Provided on-call 4th line support throughout the user migration progress troubleshooting and providing solutions/recommendations to numerous challenging issues as they arose
Overall, the complex highly-pressured migration went very smoothly with minimal serious issues - allowing the NHS Staff throughout their departments, A&E etc., to continue to perform their tasks without interruption.

commissioned my services
DX Group.
Jan 2015• May 2015 - Citrix Consultancy.
DX had a time critical requirement to migrate services from a legacy internally hosted datacentre to a new fully managed datacentre. The end-to-end solution comprised circa 250 individual components, one such critical component to the success of the project was the underlying Citrix environment, which was the main access portal for all users.
DX had internally built the existing Citrix solution in an organic approach, so there was plenty of complexity and non-standardisation across the Farm including the Application layer which contained many legacy/dirty applications and configurations making a migration very challenging. DX commissioned me to design and implement the new Citrix Greenfield environment to enable a parallel migration. My tasks included creating the entire Citrix estate end to end, along with assisting the applications teams and handover to operations. This project was high-pressured and came with a one-off migration opportunity over the Easter weekend as this was the only permitted time (once a year) when any downtime could be organised.
Thankfully, owing to the entire teams' awesome efforts and due-diligence the migration was a complete success. Following on from this project DX commissioned my services for a further four weeks to setup another Citrix solution for a separate business division utilising the new Citrix Blueprint standards that had been developed.
DX are now benefitting from new modular and centrally controlled Citrix solutions, which conform to best-practices and ensure the best end to end performances for an enhanced end user experience.
