I'm offering
I am an experienced software developer with a strong Microsoft based skillset, and am currently developing my skills in Azure. I believe in maintaining high standards and following recognised principles such as SOLID and DRY, whilst retaining a pragmatic view regarding business requirements and deadlines. I have strong Agile (SCRUM) experience.
I develop my skillset through shared knowledge in the workplace, using the online training sites such as Pluralsight and ACloudGuru, training courses when available, Google and available literature.
I believe that a good leader should empower those around them, and as a result I believe strongly in collaborative working as good ideas don’t always come from the top, and encouraging this ensures greater buy-in from all members of the team.

My experience
2020 - ?
job
Senior Developer
KeyPay.
KeyPay is an Australian-born payroll automation package which uses OAuth1.0 and OAuth 2 authentication to connect to accounting software. My current responsibility is to create integrations between KeyPay and these other 3rd parties. The connections are REST based and I am using RestSharp, IdentityModel and where necessary, vendor specific packages.

2015 - 2020
job
Senior Developer
NHS Digital.
My most recent experience at NHS-D involved the adoption of a legacy system from a closing office, which was heavy with technical debt and suffered with performance. The solution consisted of an MVC (Razor) web application and multiple APIs aiming for a Microservices approach.
Performance was increased immediately following a code review by removing unnecessary actions, fixing the logging, and implementing the Azure Storage correctly. This was followed by converting the APIs to .Net Core.
Azure integration was improved by moving the pipelines from Team City and Octopus to Azure DevOps.
Development productivity improved by replacing the existing method of using multiple instances of Visual Studio pointing at the cloud, with Docker. This prevented environment blocking and allowed for offline working on the train.
Prior to this I led the development of the eContract system which was upgrading from the .Net Framework to .Net Core. This used the Razor framework with jQuery for the front end and used MVC and the Entity Framework with SQL Server behind.

2013 - 2014
job
.Net Developer
United Kingdom Hydrographic Office.
Initially I was placed in the business as usual team which handled all software maintenance.
I was quickly moved to a project team which required image processing software, where I gained a firm understanding of Agile (SCRUM) and Test Driven Development (TDD).
A very complicated process was simplified using the NService Bus message queue and K2 Black Pearl workflow engine.
I completed another project which saved money by creating a chart image library in the correct format for the Memjet printers. This also involved image processing to ensure the smallest paper used per chart.
