Chief Technology Officer
City A.M.
I was headhunted by the business News Paper City A.M. as a lead developer to help them with a similar project to SilverDoor and rebuild V2 of their website in Laravel 5.
While I was a lead developer for City A.M. I was asked to build a News Reader app so I had done some research and built it using Swift.
After being at City A.M. for 2 years I was promoted to CTO my current role. The whole team was let go and I was asked to rebuild a new team while keeping very hands on with coding while doing so.
Having a small team from the start I to take charge of SysAdmin/DevOps with building custom set-ups for each and maintaining if any problems occurred. We had our original set up via Digital Ocean with our load balancing and security via Cloud Flare. Around 2 years ago we moved to AWS.
I always thought I was good under pressure and it wasn't until the defining moments in my career that I realised that moments like that are actually what help me tick and think clearly. A defining moment before I was promoted to CTO was our website had a crash beginning of last year once this happened all our developer left as it was a lot of pressure. I had been with the company for years at the time and stayed and got the site back up which lead to my promotion after they see the hours I worked and my level as a developer.
We recently released a project which I built for City A.M. called the City A.M. Club which I built in react. I done this outside of work over my weekends and after work at night to get the project done and ready for release date.
● Creating tickets and assigning via Jira.
● Leading the standup
● Managing deadlines
● Communicating with the board of Director
● Communicating with the team any concerns or any idea they have concerning the projects or general day to day issues.
● Building our Club site and V3 of the main site.
● Communicating with clients with builds for marketing emails.

Lead Web Developer
SilverDoor.
SilverDoor asked me to return to help rebuild V5 of their using Zend 2, restructure the database and database to optimise it for the new site and migrate the data.
1 of my other main tasks when I returned to SilverDoor was to employ a new development team that would merge well with the sociable company.
They wanted me to return as they saw how I handled the pressure and my capability and because I wasn't a typical developer I was able to communicate with people and starting a team and make them feel welcome and comfortable within the company.
● Code reviews for Juniors via Bitbucket
● Front end responsive design using Bootstrap
● PhpUnit and Behat testing
● Data migrations using phinx
