I am obsessed with the impact our word choices have. Language is a gift, and has been my longterm focus - from my Masters thesis, through my years of proofreading for academics, to my current research into the capacity words have to hinder or heal within the health sector. One of my favourite projects has been editing a book by one of the country’s leading speechwriters, on the use of metaphor in different social and historical contexts. Creating succinct, or ’lean’ text gives me great satisfaction, and I work on the principle that I will edit and refine a client’s piece until I would just as proudly call it my own. I invest time and sensitive engagement with clients to create bespoke services, and my experience ranges from basic proofreading to heavy structural editing.
