job
Senior Fixed Income Analytics Specialist
Fidelity International.
The role involved General Analytics of Fixed Income funds managed at Fidelity International. The function was new when I started involving significant VBA work to improve and make processes more efficient. The team was moved over to Dublin starting August 2019 and I opted for a voluntary redundancy on the condition of staying with FIL for 1 further year.
Key areas of responsibility were upkeep of the team's extensive vba infrastructure, tool development, assessment of PM Bonus & Compensation process, oversight of the Fixed Income Factsheet process for ex Ante Risk, and quarterly generation of PM QFR Reports
Tools developed have included a Trading statistics platform to rank all brokers in terms of volume and DTS adjusted trading, Automating POINT positions upload process, creating a peer customization tool that is open to set constraints, and the development of a credit analyst rating tool for the Hong Kong office. I am a firm believer that manual processes should be kept to a minimum and code should be used wherever possible.
I trained up staff on all aspects of attribution and risk, also presenting to new members of other teams to explain our function and how we can benefit other teams. My final piece of work involved a 1-year redundancy period mentoring and training Dublin members to the required standard mainly using confluence
My core strengths and in turn responsibilities revolved around coding but over my time with FIL I stepped in as caretaker manager on a couple of occasions and managed Delhi based developer resources in the last few years of my time with FIL.
