I'm offering
A detail-driven Design Engineer working in the Biotech/Biopharma process machinery sector. Specifically, high-value/low-volume/high-end, fully automated Chromatography and advanced separation systems. This comes after starting my career with special-purpose process machinery for the microelectronics industry before joining PALL Life Sciences in 2016 and later transferring to Sartorius.
I consider myself to be a commercially aware, driven & dedicated individual, who prides himself on working to the highest of standards, with a constant desire to improve and refine skillsets and knowledge. Continually striving to design and realise the best possible solutions for a range of engineering challenges, with a strong analytical and practical problem-solving approach. I’ve been working with precision assemblies (steam & 2-stroke engines) since a young age and can be practical/hands-on as and when required.
I’m a Certified SolidWorks Professional, however, am now using Siemens SolidEdge as well as Autodesk Inventor & have the ability to work at a fast and effective pace to build assemblies, model intelligently and draught efficiently/intelligently with design intent at the heart.
Currently at The University of Portsmouth on the BEng online distance learning course after completing the Higher Apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, gaining an HND at Distinction in Mechanical Engineering and a City & Guilds Level 4 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Manufacture.

* Assist Project/Quotations Engineers with early customer communications.
* Taking ownership of 'Design Authority' for products transitioning over from R&D to full OEM manufacture.
* Engineering Drawings/Stress Calculations using MathCAD.
* Create appropriate Engineering Schedules and Bills of Materials to facilitate the release of orders within agreed timescales.
* 3P/DFMA, Kaizen & Standardisation exercises with both Single-Use and Chromo Hardware.
* Monitor and report on deviations from customer and contract requirements.
* Provide technical support for other internal and external functions (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Applications, Sales and Customers)
* Provide engineering solutions to internal non-conformances (rejects), customer issues (CORs) and change requests within agreed timescales.

* Implement actions as instructed by the site Engineering Manager.
* Mentor and guide new/young engineers.
Projects (Snapshot)-
* Novo Nordisk 'Resolute Linear Columns (2 x Ø450, 2 x Ø1000 - PD5500)' - Working in partnership with NNE Pharma - acting as the consultants to Novo Nordisk. This was a very demanding project with the added dynamic of working alongside NNE. I picked this project up a few weeks after starting and quickly had to get up to speed. It was a fully bespoke Column with a very comprehensive and demanding URS for their new advanced plant in Hillerød, Denmark. During this project I helped introduce a new dynamic seal design in partnership with Trelleborg as well as designing bespoke pipework with SS Duplex/1.4410 Ferrules. As well as the physical design I worked closely with NNE process engineers to produce bespoke, fully tagged P&ID's with intelligent CIP/Process procedures.
* Designing A Standardised Range of Manual Columns - Working closely with marketing and product managers to define specs and quantify the range. Reducing lead-times from 14 weeks down to 9 weeks with optional 'Piping Flow Kit'.
* GSK 'Resolute Linear Columns (2 x Ø1000 - ASME VIII / PVHO)' - Designed two fully bespoke columns for GSK's site in Massachusetts. All Calcs were in accordance with the ASME VIII and PVHO design code as well as Seismic Calcs. Both columns were handed with respect to electrical and pipework, retrofitting too their existing skids. Tight dimensional restrictions also had to be adhered to.
* LFB - (2 x Ø500 Manual Columns - PD5500) - Designed a simple Ø500 Manual Column for the use in blood products - specifically Plasma.
* CSL Behring - (1 x Ø450 Manual Column - PD5500 + 1.4435 Packing Station) - Designed a high pressure Ø450 Manual for CSL's new site with all 1.4435 wetted components and an accompanying 1.4435 packing station.
* JSR Micro - (2 x Ø1000 Fixed Columns - PD5500) - Designed a column to meet their existing process. This was fixed column with no dynamic cells. Matching their existing columns in volume and process specific dimensions to ensure FDA approval and ensuring production between transition.
* Aurobindo Pharma - (1 x Ø800 & 1 x Ø1000 Manual Columns - PD5500) - Working with Aurobindo to create two Manual Columns, this was a smooth and straight forward project with occasional input from process engineers working alongside Aurobindo.

* Career - Performed etch trails using Cupric Chloride for the next generation of Apple iPhone circuitry, commissioned by the Taiwanese firm 'Career'. Over the course of the trails we developed various fluid delivery systems to etch away at thin copper films achieving 20 micron tracks and spaces. During which I was responsible for data collection and forming an Excel spreadsheets to analyse data before writing a report to determine the process feasibility against the specification.
* CEMCO 'Streamline' - Continually developing process subassemblies in a modular fashion. Helped in reducing the overall machine cost by £7,000 through cost engineering exercises, DFA and creating standardised fabrications that cater to all processes while still meeting company/clients standards.
* CEMCO 'QuickSilver' - Responsible for the creation of the Top Level CAD model from 2D drawings. Working side-by-side with fitters in order to ensure the models accuracy. Was responsible for developing a digital/actuator retrofit version as well as fixtures and tooling for clients internationally.
