As a mechanical Layout Engineer, on assignment with EDF in Paris at the offices of CNEN (Centre National d'Equipement Nucléaire). I supported the layout and installation team on the development of level 1
design for Mechanical equipment, piping installations and building layout for the EPR Nuclear Island buildings.
• By conducting a study of the PDMS model of the buildings and systems, and following a through life risk
analysis I created documentation for the planning and layout of plant, piping and equipment installations in compliance with UK, European and International standards and regulations. I further prepared detailed gap
analyses, highlighting compliance issues for each associated building and presented them for discussion at layout review meetings with NNB, CDM coordinators and H & S representatives.
• Providing design solutions to the EDF equipment and layout team to resolve installation issues.
• Producing a detailed companion document to the EDF installation requirement document, in compliance with UK regulatory requirements for the UK EPR.
• Producing a reference document, mapping the hierarchy of UK Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice applicable to the design and layout of nuclear island building and equipment installations for the UK
EPR. Including within, a descriptive summary of the functions of the regulatory authorities and additionally, the activities requiring to be undertaken to demonstrate compliance with the legal requirements of the associated
HSE Acts and Regulations.
