Senior Electrical Engineer
Hoare Lea LLP.
London , UK
Leveraged BIM and sustainability expertise to contribute to award-winning consulting organization initiatives supporting low and medium voltage electrical systems and bill of quantities.
Senior Electrical Engineer, 9/2017 till now
* Spearhead partnership efforts to accurately document power distribution, emergency power and lighting system requirements.
* Develop engineering design drawings integrating BIM modeling, facilitating project meetings and supervising electrical project resources to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
* Successfully drive project execution and demonstrate solid BIM expertise supporting engineering design projects in diverse industries.
* Mentor team members on BIM and Revit software ensuring clash detections and coordination of all engineering disciplines.
I have been with Hoare Lea LLP as an Engineer, and then Senior Engineer, since 2017. During this period, I have progressed through Hoare Lea London office and have worked on a large number of projects, varied in size, scope and sector. As a Senior Engineer, I focus on understanding the client ambitions and objectives of a project to ensure we provide an appropriate, efficient and compliant design solution. The approach I take on every project is to establish the brief to enable us to deliver exactly what our client is expecting. The value I bring to a project is communicating and working collaboratively with the design team and client. Also, I've built a network of contacts and relationships with specialist sector designers and I also engage with manufacturers to extend my industry knowledge.
My role has grown from being task based to project based, I have progressively gained greater project responsibility to the point where I am in charge of the day-to-day running of projects. In addition, train and oversee the day-to-day BIM activities of team designers.
With this, my external exposure has increased and I now provide supervision and leaderships to junior members of stuff.
I play an active role in developing and managing successful workflows for multi-discipline coordination of large, technically complex project within Hoare Lea. Also, I perform custom training for MEP engineers for Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Design Review, in addition to introduce BIM process to new project teams and mentored integration into existing project delivery workflows.
Furthermore, I have created beta tools using dynamo scripts that enable engineers to automatically complete tasks. This is an initial step which should free up time and help with coordination, nevertheless, many more could be developed, for instance with regard to clash avoidance.
