During my unbroken work experience of over 35 years I have worked in many diverse fast moving and high demanding production environments, including manufacturing, Aerospace industry, machining shops, Nuclear and FMCG’s, all bringing challenges and exciting opportunities to make significant improvements.
My experiences gained, provide me with strong communication and leadership skills combined with the ability to break down, analyse and optimise processes drawing upon key skills such as Six Sigma, process design, optimisation, auditing and mapping, 8D, Kaizen, Lean Enterprise, Efficiency drives, waste elimination focusing on the recognised eight wastes of lean, 5S, etc.
I am a true believer in the importance of structured and clear communication verbally, written and presented. Drawing upon skills gained in the use of Microsoft office programmes, Minitab data analysis software and CAD software, generating and presenting structured reports, proposals and procedures in an understandable and fact based manner. Previous work in many diverse businesses has imparted within me the importance of good and clear communication across the whole of the organisation.
In each of my previous positions, timely and clear reporting of factual data has been essential allowing confident decisions to be made based on fact. I am adept at foreseeing process improvement opportunities along with assessing risk relating to change and health and safety.
As a Six Sigma Black Belt, I am a strong believer in a Lean culture with focus on process streamlining and efficiency drives. Leading and contributing to many varied projects both on my own unsupervised and within teams. Projects including production process re-mapping, efficient machine shop flow layout, economic batch size analysis, root causes analysis, KPI setting and reporting, JIT, and many more, providing me with a broad range of knowledge to draw upon.
Though I am confident of working unsupervised, at times team work to achieve common goals is essential and of greater benefit to the organisation, encouraging and engaging individual team member contribution and involvement whilst drawing upon individuals’ skill sets to achieve the optimum outcome in a timely manner. Each project and action are assessed on merit, based on value to the business and customer expectation, whilst observing best practice processes in line with all current legislations.
The success of any business realise largely upon the attitude, skills and contribution of its employees from Management down, where a good work ethic and respect are essential key factors. As a team leader I strive to encourage team members not to wait for problems to arise but to continuously seek improvement opportunities and raise them in a structured manner freely and openly without any fear of rejection.
