SENIOR SECOND LINE ENGINEER

I started working for Guestline as a Second Line Engineer in 2018. It was very similar to my previous role as it was still a software
support role but it was much more technical and was more focused on the investigation side of support.
My role consisted of mainly investigating financial transactions taken through the EPOS (Electronic point of sale) and Hotel booking
system we supported.
I quickly became one of the most knowledgeable members on the team and started training new members from many teams across the company.
Whilst working here I furthered my knowledge of SQL, General networking, Basic Cybersecurity and much more.
After a year of working here, I was promoted to a Senior role which brought a few extra responsibilities like:
• Dealing with escalations.
• Managing a small team when Team leaders were off or out of the office.
• Responsibilities for unlocking and locking up the office.
• Delegating work to other team members.
• Datacentre access for detailed logs and customer's sensitive data.

I started as an Apprentice Support Technician after leaving school only a week prior. I quickly became familiar with the products we
supplied and the overall job role.
The role was a typical support position, we handled calls and emails from our customers, some would be training-related and others
would be problems which would be raised, investigated and eventually solved.
Whilst working here I got a very good understanding of SQL as we used it very heavily in all of our products. I also learnt Key skills like Phone manner and email manner, dealing with customers electronically as well as dating with them in person from client
meetings etc. Naturally, as an apprentice, I also made a lot of coffee.
