Virginia Woolf once stated 'Every secret of a writer's soul, every experience of his life, every quality of his mind is written large in his works.' Now, i am no Woolf, she was far too prestigious to be compared to, but her simple statement resonates with my type of writing, right down to its core. I often find myself within my writing, even when i alter my tone of voice to suit the requirements of the piece, i read it back and see my journey, how far I have come from the novel scribbles written in my diary as a young girl. See, reading writing has always been in my blood, like many avid writers it is a passion that seeps into every aspect of my life. I can write in alternative styles, my tone can change with ease, I am able to produce a solid, fluent piece within a deadline, but what it all boils down to, the absolute crux of it, is that i can write, and I very much enjoy doing just that.
In 2019 I obtained a First Class BA (hons) Degree in English which broadened my knowledge, altering my clear-cut points of view and completely changed how I looked upon the world. I read texts i had never heard of, I studied many different theorists and their affluent theories, I studied marketing and conferencing, and my research skills broadened extensively. During those wonderful three years I had the honour of writing for iBD magazine as a Business Focus and Music editor, interviewing many, many businesses and bands such as The Beautiful South and Slade ahead of their tour stops. I have recently written an article for the national "Army & You" magazine and I am currently working with my inspiring brother-in-law to write a novel based on his transplant and recovery.

My experience
2019 - 2019
job
Business Services Assistant
Finance and Financial Services.
Although my time within NYCC was cut short due to my pregnancy and moving to Wiltshire, my role provided an alternative outlook to my usual writing roles. My primary focus within my position revolved around numbers and customer service. My duties included: ensuring all correct financial data had been submitted by care services providing care to members of the public, assessing any contributions that could be made to individuals for their care, accounting for transport, meals and respite care costs, submitting payment requests using Oracle, liaising with social workers and other health professionals to ensure correct care and costing had been covered.

job
Journalist/Writer
iBD Magazine.
iBD is more than advertising. The local magazine contains topic specific editorials, news, upcoming events, contests and a community focus edit
this is where I fit in. Community Focus - previously known as Business Focus - placed emphasis on local businesses and community news which deserves to be heard. Writing for this editorial brought forth a multiplicity of skills due to the wide range of topics covered from month to month. A few examples of these topics are: Interviews with Managers/CEO's of a local landscaping business, an interior design company, a well-established hair salon and an up-market tea room. Along with the interview-type edits I have also used copy for community news to discuss events such as a charity skydive. The magazine also runs a monthly competition for two winners to gain free entry in to local events. Last winter I had the privilege of interviewing Ali Wheeler from The Beautiful South and Dave Hill from Slade for two separate edits advertising their tour dates.
The edit also allows me to touch on subjects of importance. A Nationwide Anti-bullying campaign piqued the magazine's interest which led me to interview an ambassador of the campaign for support guidance and information surrounding the subject.
iBD has enabled me to enter the ever-evolving world of Editing and unlocked skills which enable me to write using different styles to match the overall subject. It has also provided me with some experience in Journalism.
