My job role had me working closely with other HCAS and nurses to give personal care to patients who had dementia and follow through close observations throughout day and night. After some thought however I have decided that the role is not for me.

The unit consists of 9 ladies (10 bed facility) who have personality disorders and learning disabilities.
My job role consisted of supporting service users on a 1:1 and 2:1 basis to ensure their safety is maintained and make sure they get all the support they need.
My role also consisted of ensuring all patients' needs are met. Taking them for cigarettes, supper and giving them access to communal areas as well as the patient kitchen. Patients get the chance to have 1:1 support from staff when they please. Each patient has a designated nurse and support staff for when they want this to be facilitated.
As I worked nights I haven't taken them for shop run or their monthly shopping trip. That is however in the job role if I was to work both days and nights.
I typed up pink notes. This allows all staff to see what has gone on, on the shift I've been working. This also is to document everything legally.

home. Working here allowed me to show my caring side and care for people I have never met before. I enjoyed being here as I didn't see it as a job, I saw it as more of me visiting a care home and being my normal self. The 'job' came naturally to me and I made instant connections with a lot of the residents there. In the home all together there were 48 residents and out if those 48 residents I made close connections with 7 of them who of which I got up every morning and put to bed each night.
Main roles of the job were to wash and dress the patients and to give general care and compassion to them. Although there were many obstacles when working at valley lodge the outcome of care to each resident was to a high standard.

Santa's Grotto: I worked in the Santa's Grotto for the Christmas period meeting and greeting the children and their parents. This involved Breakfast with Santa, taking payments, their tickets, keeping a tally of the presents, ensuring stock levels were maintained and showing the customers through to Santa. I also worked through store encouraging customer to visit the Grotto.
In 2013 I completed a week's work experience in the store where I did customer service, served on the till, completed deliveries, which included pricing and displaying the stock and I also helped with the yearly stock take.
