I have 17 years development experience, working in South Africa and Switzerland before moving to the UK in 2010.

I am currently employed as Senior Web Developer at Birkbeck, University of London, but on top of my day job I do up to 40 hours per week freelance work in the evenings and over weekends. I am therefore always on the lookout.

I have been involved in all aspects of web development, back-end, UI and integration. My skill set includes Python, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Zope, Plone, Pyramid, Django, React, Flux, Redux, AngularJS, Aurelia, Wordpress and PHP, as well as the use of a combination of Grunt or Gulp, Webpack, Jekyll and other static site generators, Zurb Foundation or Bootstrap and SASS to create UI prototypes. I also have experience with AWS cloud hosting. In UI development I follow a responsive, mobile-first approach. When writing styles I constantly experiment with aspects of OOCSS and Modular CSS. My coding skills are most solidly grounded in Python, as part of back-end development and UI integration, as well as JavaScript, jQuery and JavaScript MV* frameworks/libraries.

My development experience covers a wide range of applications, from intranet and project management solutions, to laboratory systems, to public facing websites, and includes development for the United Nations Chief Executives Board for Coordination, the capital of Switzerland, Oxford University, the Marine Stewardship Council, the Science Museum in London and Birkbeck, University of London.

In all the companies that I've worked for I've been involved in development, planning and project management.
