I'm offering
Magic happens when you challenge the limits of what is possible. I have been challenging the limits in Data and Analytics since 1980.
YESTERDAY, I was a technology pioneer. I created a relational language 5 years before SQL; and was part of the team that created the SQL Standard in 1986. Over 20 years before Hadoop, I was at the forefront of creating the world’s first massively scalable database engine at Teradata.
Experiences you might ask me about: Speaking right after Steve Jobs; getting chased by Reagan’s helicopter; awards dinner with Nobel laureates; grounding Larry Ellison’s Concorde; high-level discussions with Richard Branson; Lower Manhattan on 9/11.
TODAY, I am a leader, communicator, global collaborator, and mentor. I am an innovator, visionary, and perpetual student. I believe in delivering customer value, not just technology: Technologies come and go, but customer value is always in fashion.
And I am still challenging the limits. I have stood on Everest as the highest person on Earth; I have crossed the Atlantic by sail. (I've done harder stuff with data, but it's harder to explain, too.)
A few vignettes:
• Leader: Executive roles (VP, CTO) at HP, SAP, Teradata, Pivotal, and several start-ups
• Global Collaborator/Mentor: Lived in 5 countries; mentored development teams in 10; collaborated with customers in 30.
• Communicator: Keynote speaker in USA, Europe, Asia, Australia
• Technical lead for teams of 200+ at HP, Pivotal, Teradata
• Perpetual Student: Recently: 3 cloud certifications in 3 days. Long ago: Valedictorian in University class of 5000+.
