9 Staging Allocation and Expected Loss Calculation Workstream Lead

As part of the Tesco Bank IFRS 9 programme delivery team, the remit of the role was to deliver a compliant solution for determining significant increase in credit risk over the expected lifetime on non-defaulted assets to determine stage one / stage two allocation to feed into the month end expected loss provision calculation, for revolving and non-revolving unsecured portfolios.
Key responsibilities
• Determining point of initial recognition and determining the expected lifetime of the product.
• Designing a configurable framework using a quantitative measure of credit risk with trigger points to identify significant risk increase events for stage 2 allocation.
• Identification of qualitative flags for stage 2 allocation on accounts not selected in the quantitative framework.
• Design of the expected credit loss calculation for stage 1 (12 months ECL) and stage 2 (lifetime ECL), including discounting losses back to the reporting date and blending across multiple macro-economic scenarios.
• Submission of key decision points and interpretation of results for monthly IFRS 9 Steering Committee review.
• Workshop lead with business stakeholders for ongoing review and iterative progression of solution design and parallel run periodic performance.
• External assurance check point review forums.
