Experienced software engineer with a strong background
DevOps & DevSecOps.
Both leading engineering teams and working within cross-functional teams across a range of industries both public and private sector from start-ups to enterprise.
September 2019 - January 2020 Chip Savings
Interim VP of Engineering (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, PHP, Python, Docker, BigQuery, ELK, Fluentd, EIDAS/PSD2)
Defining the technology roadmap and enablement plan so that Chip could ensure technical compliance (CIS) / regulatory
requirements (EIDAS/PSD2) are met from a platform (AWS), application (PHP, Python) and data standpoint.
Implemented IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems) within the AWS ecosystem early on within engagement.
Encouraged and instilled a security first mindset amongst the organisation and convinced the eXCo company was in dire need to migrate a monolithic application (Laravel/Phalcon) into a kubernetes based micro service architecture (EKS) fully
automated through Terraform and Python sub-modules.
Worked closely with the Head of Data to define a reference architecture that would provide a "near-real-time" solution for
business analytics using BigQuery (GCP) and Alooma that surfaced data from various data sources (AWS QLDB ledger and RDS)
Responsible defining the Target Operating Model for how Chip will scale in the oncoming months after my handover to the relevant heads of departments.

Delivered an on-premise to cloud migration strategy initially developed a model for operations / processes throughout the Digital team, subsequently using Hashicorp tools to develop and deploy the entire AWS landing zone
to be consumed by several large departments nationwide.
Led the implementation from traditional application development to the use of containers within the enterprise
organisation and instilled the use of compliance as code / infrastructure as code through scalable and reusable CI/CD
pipelines.
Developed an AMI/Docker pipeline within Jenkins (using Packer and Ansible) that would ensure all images remain CIS
compliant within the constraints of financial services sector (through the use if InSpec for validation)
Led the network design and implementation across several key AWS accounts that had to integrate with an on-prem
DC as well as provide developers access to remote working, thus requiring a complete rework of their pre-existing
IAM strategy.
The goal was to help grow the client account to £0.5m in 6 months, forecast for December was £1.2m

Principle & Lead Consultant
BNP Paribas.
(OpenStack, Docker, Java, ELK, Prometheus, Rancher, Ansible, Terraform)
Working primarily within the constraints of their hybrid cloud solution, I had to develop an HA Rancher Cluster that
would be spun up on demand for any team within EMEA - this solution sat atop OpenStack and was primarily
orchestrated with Ansible / Ansible Tower and Terraform.
Alerting & Log Aggregation was handled with ELK stack and several Prometheus scrapers were written in order to collate specific metrics from around their pre-existing stack.

Technology & DevOps Lead
unknown.
(Contract) (Docker, Hashicorp Suite, AWS, Python)
Acting as most senior contract technologist within AND Digital's club (Dekker) for both internal and client projects. Heavy
focus on rolling out infrastructure as code across client base as well as AND Digital's service offerings.
Acting as the principal technical consultant and DevOps Lead within AND Digital's second club (Dekker) with clients such as

Performed key migration from on-premise to cloud within Covea insurance and performed a restructuring of the internal
product team whereby removing separation between QA / Development and Delivery. As a result deployment times went down
from 2 weeks to 4 hours. Implemented automated compliancy checks both at code and infrastructure level with tools such as
Chef Kitchen and the use of InSpec.
Sought approval for bringing in further technologies such as Vault for secrets management and Ansible with Packer for building
golden images to help further reduce overheads associated with development / staging / production parity issues.
