6point6 / Executive Director, Engineering
6point6.
Ranked in the FT top 100 fastest growing tech companies in Europe,
6point6 experienced rapid growth across the business. My role was to build an Engineering practice within 6point6. Previously the organisation
had focused on Architecture and Cyber Security so Engineering was a
new discipline for 6point6.
Some of the key elements of this role included:
● Direct oversight of key accounts including major Government
projects in Counter-Terrorism and Security, major investment
banks and the NHS
● Managed the Engineering team from 2 initial members to over
20 including the creation of sub-teams for Business Analysis,
Testing, and DevOps
● Remained hands-on with a focus on Development and DevOps,
including Java, Javascript, AWS, Kubernetes, Spring, React and various databases. Led the design of serverless solutions using
AWS Lambda, API Gateway and Cognito
● Set best practices for pipeline development and continuous
integration using Circle.ci, Drone ci and Github Actions.
● Led the sales activity and the growth of key accounts to take the revenues from less than £250,000 per year to £3 million
● Defined a management and project structure to allow the team
to scale to handle the demands of new projects and people
management.
● Managed communications and relationships with senior
stakeholders and C-Suite across all the accounts as well as internally
● Led the creation of Engineering standards and practices to form
the basis of growing capability that can scale with the business.
I started my role at 6point6 as the Head of Software Engineering and was
promoted to Director and then Executive Director following the massive
growth of the team.
My time with 6point6 has given me a great deal of experience in
managing large technology teams across many accounts and projects at the same time. It has required leadership, technical architecture skills, and engagement with senior management to create a business function
from scratch.
My role has remained very hands-on with a focus on DevOps and delivery to production.

job
Lead Developer
BJSS.
Within BJSS I worked as Technical Lead and Architect across a variety of projects. My largest project was with the HSBC Originations & Utilities
project where I led the Credit Cards team. Some of the highlights
included:
● Successfully launched customer-facing applications to allow
Credit Card applications to be completed online in the UK and Hong Kong
● Integrated several legacy mainframe applications to fully
automate the application process
● Our application was the first straight-through banking
application to be released by any bank in Hong Kong and has
been used as the template for other applications today.
● Led the application development using Spring Boot, Java, Kotlin,
React, and Node.js.
● Developed a series of Rest and gRPC based APIs for internal and external use.
● Designed the deployment pipeline using Jenkins, Pivotal Cloud
Foundry and Docker.

job
Lead Developer
BrightTALK.
I led a team of 6 developers
working across multiple parts of the platform. The majority of my work is with a number of applications that consume Restful API's from other
parts of the BrightTALK ecosystem and third parties. In addition I
worked with the team on designing new parts of the system and creating the architectural model for new features.
Some of the key changes included:
● We have broken down our single application into numerous
smaller applications and libraries that have sped up development
considerably.
● I designed a new Docker-based infrastructure that now allows us
to run parts of the platform on AWS, giving us vastly improved
scalability and flexibility.
● We introduced a new Docker-based continuous integration
environment that has improved our testing capacity and the confidence we have in our releases.
As the scrum master of the team I have tried to improve the working
practices and have been able to move from a waterfall model to a kanban
approach.
