SUPPLY CHAIN / LOGISTICS CONSULTANT
SA Designer Parfums Ltd.
Implemented global supply chain vision for multi-channel trading, IT solutions and component supply/finished goods manufacturing. Set strategies to manage expansion by focusing on inventory planning for newly acquired fragrance brands/portfolios. Established 9 international warehouses with multiple partners, initially through tendering, then benchmarking and negotiating rates for services and settling contract terms. Co-ordinated the logistics team to build relationships, set procedures and controls, direct operations, manage budgets, develop import/export specialism, document IT interfacing requirements with SAP commercial systems and create focused communications with suppliers and customers. Oversaw tender for global forwarding, warehousing and distribution following the acquisition of Playboy and Cerruti brands (supply licences/rights to promote fragrances, aerosols and personal care products) from Coty Inc., in April 2018. With turnover for the 2 brands at £90M per annum, this purchase would treble the overall sales of the Designer Parfums business and lead to the creation of a separate business unit. Served as project manager to relocate finished goods for Naomi Campbell, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez and Jean-Louis Sherrer fragrances to mainland Europe, manoeuvring ahead of a Brexit imperative from customers to ensure supply and avoid duties, customs entries and trading restrictions in the event of a 'no deal' outcome. Responsible for the integration of all Brands by establishing supply chain infrastructures and negotiating contracts with 3PLs/Forwarders which resulted in directing worldwide product transportation from manufacturers/distributors to retailers. Sponsored tactical integrations of commercial IT systems to distribution centre WMS. Brought together back-office support functions including customer service, production planning and finance procedures for the wider organisation.
Key Contributions:
• Established a supply chain for a truly global brand in Playboy. Following acquisition, quickly created a network of international warehouses, worldwide freighting and distribution through contacts, tender and benchmarking, negotiating rates, KPIs, services and drawing-up of contracts for 'hazardous' goods protection. Set procedures and controls (and SAP implementation) including 'risk management' protocols over operations and on-boarded/trained the in-house teams to take ownership of the new business.
• Set Brexit plans by preparing for "no deal" scenario in March 2019. Achieved benefit of £0.5M annually in freight/warehousing cost reductions by transferring stock for 4 brands direct from manufacturers to a newly established Paris-based warehouse to consolidate with Playboy/Cerruti goods for European Union based customers and thereby avoiding potential tariffs, customs declarations and product labelling challenges.
• Led a 'due diligence' group to investigate the Board's resolution to acquire a major French fragrance manufacturer given potential uncertainties of supply following the UK's exit from the European Union. The report recommended that the improved management of the relationship and use of a tier one 3PL provider for storage and distribution would achieve better results for the business and without the financial risk of ownership. The report was upheld.
