In this role I travelled to client sites on multiple long term contracts. I have installed managed WiFi solutions for Marriott Hotels. I gained experience configuring HP ProCurve switches, Ruckus APs and Zone Directors along with hands on experience configuring a Radius server. This experience gave me greater understanding of Layer 3 networking including how to configure Subnets, CIDR notation and the role of default gateways. I have Installed Servers for Cineworld Cinemas where I got my first exposure to vSphere and VMware. I learned how to install VMware ESX, setup VM's, and provision hardware resources to VM's. I have extensive experience terminating Ethernet cabling and patching and experience installing fibre connections and SFC modules. I have also installed a UniFi based WiFi solution for Cineworld and I experience testing WiFi coverage using surveying solutions from Ekahau and Airmagnet. When not on projects I would work from home in a helpdesk capacity. I provided helpdesk support for Apollo Cinemas. I have provided support for iPods for Cineworld and I have also provided support for light cinemas for their network infrastructure. My proudest achievement was rescuing a hotel during a cutover when we had a delay in receiving hardware, and a serious issue with a lack of public IPs. I liaised directly with the ISP to get a temporary /30 subnet allocated and worked through the night to complete cutover. The hotel's WiFi was up and running again on schedule.
