Developed a web app for Visa to replace the in-person experience offered by Visa’s Innovation Centres. Required visually stunning animations created with GSAP, incorporating videos, drag & drop interactions and a custom built inline CMS. Worked closely with designers to produce complex page layouts and animations. Introduced Storybook so components could easily be re-used. Refactored the existing authentication functionality, to fix bugs and meet Visa’s strict security requirements. Successfully developed custom solutions to Safari browser bugs in relation to SVGs.

Worked in a team to produce a garage workflow management platform for a start-up. The application was built in React and consumed a RESTful web service. Developed a number of white-label e-commerce stores for H&M. The stores were built using Moteefe’s framework and required extending the core code that underpins the framework to accommodate new features and custom designs. As a team, we delivered a B2B application for BP, built from scratch in React but based on a legacy system. Used the recent features of React, including Hooks, alongside Redux for state management. Translated user stories, wireframes and designs into high quality code. Integrated with microservice APIs. Practised a TDD approach and applied engineering best practices. Used Storybook to capture reusable components. Expected to be hands-on in all areas of the codebase and have no problem taking a proactive approach to making improvements. Liaised with stakeholders from BP in bi-weekly sessions. Also responsible for leading a small team, which included assisting with technical challenges and mentoring junior developers.

Developed web projects for Google, including a groundbreaking AR experience for Google Ads and a Google marketing PWA. Produced W3C standards compliant code to Google’s strict guidelines and following best practices for usability and accessibility. The code I produced had to be reviewed by Google engineers and had to score high in Chrome’s Lighthouse tool. Used Google’s internal libraries (Glue, Hercules and Bracket). Also worked on Toaster’s website, incorporating Google Hire job listings into the React PWA. This included re-writing the careers section of the website. Brought in to strengthen the team prior to a beta launch of an isomorphic web app. Worked on various aspects of the app, including being individually responsible for building ‘Discussions’ functionality from scratch, which required localisations, a custom implementation of lazy loaded components and the ability for users to manage their discussions. Required pixel perfect representation of designs that worked across responsive layouts and followed the Lush design systems and style guides in Storybook.

After a successfully completed project for BAE in December, I was asked to join the UX team at BAE. Worked within the Cybersecurity space developing web applications using React and Redux. The applications were used to manage data collected from back-end machine-learning algorithms. Also built an internal component library from-the-ground-up, for use across BAE’s security products.

Developed new tools for the Citizens Advice website. The tools were built using React and ES6 syntax. Introduced a modular approach to the way the tools were built so that components could be re-used across different tools. Also converted the build scripts to use Webpack for a simplified workflow and to enable multi-entry points so that individual tools could be run and built independently.
