I worked closely with the PI and property and affairs Court of Protection teams and I provided training to client groups and attended networking events. job
Tribunal Advocate and Legal Advisor
Citizens Advice.
I was a generalist caseworker and welfare benefits tribunal advocate, often supporting vulnerable clients with a complex array of legal issues. My responsibilities included examining clients' issues, conducting legal research, advocacy and drafting correspondence and advising on employment, consumer, immigration and welfare benefits matters.
I represented refugees, victims of abuse and disabled persons in welfare benefits tribunals at Sheffield Magistrates' Court with successful outcomes for all those who I assisted. A particular highlight was securing a successful judgment for a refugee suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and severe physical disability, having been incarcerated and tortured by the state in his home country.
As recognition of my commitment to this role I was given the opportunity to work on more complex casework and this subsequently led to the above-mentioned policy research internship.
