I joined McLaren into a newly reorganised department as one of the senior engineers on the Aero Operations team. In this team I am responsible for the design and development of new and enhanced customer facing products designed to both improve our exploitation of data and enhance our operational effectiveness. I immediately delivered a rebuilt web application using TypeScript and React to replace an aging Angular application resulting in significant performance improvement and improved user experience. I am currently leading on designing and delivering an event sourced configuration tracking system designed to ensure we can accurately and quickly understand the state of one of our key experimental assets. I am in the process of prototyping a solution for the project using C# microservices, EventStore and Kafka.

I joined the MoD from Capgemini as a Senior Software Engineer and immediately took a role in a data analysis research team. In this team I was responsible for working closely with our data science colleagues to support the development of advanced analysis techniques. This included the design and development of large proof of concepts and experiments, as well as developing the tools and technologies we needed to deploy machine learning at scale within a complex enterprise. I made use of a combination of JavaScript, React, Python, .NET and Java to carry out these tasks.
Towards the end of my employment I became a Team Lead and Principle Engineer for the research function and tactical engineering capability. This involved managing the team's day to day (line management) as well as leading technically on projects. I continued to lead the research team in developing an ever-closer relationship with its customers and in building analytical tools for data analysis. My role in the tactical engineering team required the management of 3-5 engineers on rapid response tasks to user needs, developing ad-hoc solutions across the full stack and deploying rapidly and iteratively to ensure analysis tasks could be undertaken at operational pace.

While at Capgemini I worked on numerous projects across our client's technology enterprise, from infrastructure projects to data exploitation and analysis. Upon joining I was tasked with leading the development of a data acquisition and processing system, which I lead a small team in delivering utilising Java, Spring and MS SQL. I went on to design and develop a machine learning analysis technique and its integration, which involved working closely with their data science function to take the prototype and scale it to an enterprise product with hundreds of users and low latency requirements for live audio. I built the backend in C# and Python, and integrated the results into the UI which was built in WPF.
