As manager of a busy design studio, I gave key support to the Art Director and design team. I managed the workflow in and out of the dept., as well as a team of freelance designers. I commissioned illustrators, assessed portfolios and negotiated fees. I also
managed a weekly cover design meeting and acted as liaison between creative team and various depts. I monitored costs,
schedules and quality. As well as designing my own covers, I had creative input on all book cover design and marketing materials.
During this period the design dept. underwent a period of profound change, moving from a long working relationship with one
design agency to managing a new team of freelancers, followed by an in-house team. I was able to successfully maintain the standards and output throughout this tumultuous time.
