I'm offering
Hello. My name is Niall (like the river Nile) and I run my own business as a web developer and games designer.
I (personally) specialise in programming; all the coding and scripting which people seem to shy away of, of which I embrace and use in order to provide web-based solutions for businesses.
This doesn’t mean I don’t know how to do any of the design work.
I studied Games Design in both college and university, as it is a hobby and passion of mine, but I have found that my skills in both industries are quite cross-compatible, and I use what I learn from one in the other.
Although my studies did lead me to Games Design, my focus is on business solutions. These include designing and developing websites, applications, software, and databases; anything to improve a business’s productivity and efficiency.
I work with a selection of other designers and developers to get projects done, and undertake projects for myself as a business, as well as those for digital agencies, people looking for freelance/additional support, and those who essentially want someone to just "deal with it".
I consider myself a full stack developer, as I've handle projects from the very start (meeting clients) to sourcing (and sometimes building) servers, to the UX/UI and design stages, all the way up to the actual development, customisation and third-party integration.
If you view my profile, you'll find that I do switch between "I" and "we", as sometimes I've worked by myself, or as a part of a team (either with people I've sourced and managed, or a pre-existing team).

2014 - 2016
job
Web Developer
Contedia Ltd.
I was employed at Contedia as a web developer/software developer within their Web Department.
My duties included a whole range of web solutions, from creating layouts for various CMS systems
(WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart), to developing whole database systems where data is submitted to the server, processed and entered into the database, and then display on screen with an interactive
graphical web user interface, as well as providing email reports and spreadsheet documents.
The role also encompasses providing web support for the clients, updating and maintaining their sites and documents, as well as providing new solutions to keep protected content as secure as possible. For
some clients, the only contact is every few months to update the site a little bit, and with other clients,
we are essentially their IT department.
Projects have included integrating social media feeds into websites, using the API and a custom-
built plugin, as well as enhancing site speed, by configuring the javascript and stylesheet files, and compressing images, etc.
Alongside this, I've also created and maintained various "login" systems, so content and website
access is limited to those with login details and the correct permissions, of various levels. For one
client, the page would display different content if they were logged in or not, and pages were
restricted, forcing a redirect to the home page, with a pop-up module asking them to log in or send an
email.
For the same client, I've also developed their own custom "related products" section for their site, in which a selection of related products are displayed to the visitor. Although this doesn't sound like
much, it does require access to at least three different databases at once (due to the client's current system), spanning over several different languages.
Since working at Contedia, I've learned how to use Adobe Creative Suite more efficiently, as
well as improved my programming style and knowledge, and learnt new techniques in file and
server management; it has enhanced my experience within the field, learning new features and understanding how powerful PHP can be.

2010 - 2015
job
Finance Manager
New Horizons Group International.
I was offered the position of Finance Manager in August 2012. This is a senior role, which involves
handling and stewarding the finances of the entire organisation, as well as other funds we have taken
responsibility over (such as major events partnering up with other Churches). The only responsibilities
carried over from before is IT Support/Server and User Maintenance.
The main duties include taking responsibility over Offerings given, at any events needed, providing the materials needed (such as Giving Envelopes). This means providing Offering Packs so the money
can be counted, bagged and deposited in the Bank, or securing within the safe until the deposit can be
paid. I also have the responsibility of choosing and vetting volunteers to count the Offering.
Another part of the process is entering the Offering into the database, as well as all other transactions
(Bill Payments, Income, Staff Payroll), and reconciling the database to the bank accounts on a monthly
basis, as well as the credit cards. I also produce and send reports of our Finances to the Management
Board at Month End.
I also have to handle the Transfers between Funds and Accounts so that all transactions balance between the two records.
I also have direct contact with our Accountants and HMRC, in order to 'close' the accounts at the financial year end and Audits, as well as paying HMRC the National Insurance and Tax payments. I am also responsible for the Annual Reports to Charities Commission and Companies House.
Another one of my responsibilities is to keep our membership records up to date (for Data Protection; I am also responsible for other security procedures relating to the Finances). By doing this, I am able to identify any new donors who pay Tax and able to claim Gift Aid because of that (and the opposition too).
From September 2010, I was a humble administrator and IT Support, on voluntary basis. My duties
included:
• Manning the telephone, answering calls, replying to emails or forwarding to the correct person.
• Providing IT support to staff, and maintaining the computers and office equipment.
• Managing the website, podcast and media.
• Server and user maintenance - troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Stock check and keeping the levels healthy.
• Doing price comparison for the cheapest suppliers.
