2007 - 2013
job
Project Manager Renewables / T&D Projects
Siemens, Monkton Newcastle.
- Stublach Gas 132kV Gas Storage Project (Client - Jacobs, Value 7M),
15 month duration, building a substation connected to a Gas Storage facility in Cheshire on a Greenfield site. Multi-stakeholders involved and a compressed a timeline for the project. I achieved a "Zero" incident record across the project life-cycle and a commendation for my role was sent to Siemens Hierarchy. Included civil works, temporary works coordination and cross communication with an adjacent site controlled by a different client - SSE.
- Whitegate 132kV GIS Substation (Client - ENW, Value 17M),
16 Bay AIS substation based in Oldham Manchester. The existing substation was converted to a GIS and consisted of 5 remote ends around Manchester and also involved the safe demolition of the existing 10 acre site. National Grid commented in a CP feedback report that this was executed as a 'Model Project'.
- Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm, Siemens 1st offshore substation OSP (Client - Fluor, Value 110M (15M OSP)),
PM of the subcontractor for the 2200 tonne offshore substation at Hereema Hartlepool. The OSP connected to the Greater Gabbard Windfarm consisting of approx. 80 - 6MW turbines and the sister OSP Galloper. The power was transmitted to shore by 2 x 132kV export cables. Many obstacles were encountered in this first build and it was an extremely valuable lessons learnt exercise for the Siemens business.
- Newcastle 33kV Supply Electric Reinforcement (Client - NPG (CE), Value 12.5M),
A 66kV cable connection around the center of Newcastle connecting remote end locations. Involving civil works and external stakeholders associated with the Hadrian's Wall archeological site and the A1 motorway. I was the consortium PM for this project - Balfour Beatty, NPG and Siemens.
- Stonefoot Windfarm 66kV Connection (Client - NPG (CE), Value 3.5M),
Front end PM on a small wind farm connection in a remote location in county Durham also involving substation protection scope changes at other associated locations. Some minor civil works also involved.
Also during my time at Siemens I was also involved in business improvement initiatives particularly 'tailoring' of existing PM processes and procedures to align with industry best practice / APM approach. I was responsible for streamlining the processes in my department and was the process owner for the tasks associated with the DNO project life cycle. I followed the PM@Siemens career development plan and their rigorous assessment board - achieving Category 'C' PM status, recognized worldwide in the Siemens network.
