Selling Assistant
John Lewis & Partners.
Since starting my role as Selling Assistant in the Glasgow Branch of the popular department store John Lewis & Partners, I joined the Large Electrical & Fitted Kitchens department within the branch. My main duties included attending to customers and ensuring that needs are fulfilled. This particular department is highly demanding of both product knowledge and clear communicative skills to ensure that customers are talked through the features of each product and are delivered the correct product to suit their needs. I regularly handled transactions of several thousand pounds, so it was imperative that a high level of service was maintained. Since beginning my employment, I was regularly tasked with increasingly complex roles which have tested my critical thinking and customer service abilities. I also underwent further comprehensive training and I am now enrolled into the Samsung Academy, something which will allow me to further my product knowledge. Furthermore, I was selected as part of a team tasked with reforming the communication and democracy pathways within the Glasgow branch.

Additional skills and experience
Since starting University, I have aimed to be involved with various student unions and societies. Currently, I am a member of the Sports union where I regularly attend boxing training as means to keep fit. Furthermore, I have attended many sessions with the motorsport society and aided in the design and manufacture of their car, USM 18. Throughout my International exchange period at the Kelley School of Business at the University of Indiana I have engaged in numerous teamwork exercises, furthering my communicative skills and building new relationships. During my time at Kelley School of Business I have undertaking several volunteering sessions for the local charity Habitat for Humanity where I utilised my skills to aid in the construction of relief homes for those in need.
During my secondary education I took part in two entrepreneurial ventures. Firstly, Young Apprentice. A fundraising project whereby our team raised nearly £2,500 for the Highland Hospice. Secondly, the accredited Young Enterprise. Our team found success in the Highland regional finals where the judges were impressed by our two products and team vision. Since starting University I have volunteered a local foodbank in Hillington on several occasions where I have aided in the distribution of food packs to those in need.
