job
Senior Software Engineer
Let's Get Checked.
Languages - C#, F#, T-SQL
Other Tools - AWS, SQS, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, FAKE (F# Make), Nancy
About the company: Let's Get Checked is a four year old startup which provides at-home medical testing kits for a range of medical conditions from STIs to bowel cancer and cholesterol checks. The company recently secured $30 Million in Series B
financing.
My every-day tasks include creating integrations between microservices, creating asynchronous data flows using Amazon's
Simple Queue Service (SQS) and updating internal administrative WebForms applications. Most coding is performed in C# with a very limited application of F#. The job has exposed me to the internal workings and strains of a successful start-up at the same
time as providing me with some understanding of the difficulties of building geographically distributed cloud web-applications.

Frameworks - AngularJs, Angular 6, Kendo, .NET Core, ASP.NET WebAPI & MVC
Other Tools - Git, NUnit, TeamCity (CI), Octopus Deploy, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studio, JetBrains Rider
In 2015 I took on the development of Clarksons Research's data-driven market leading websites. I've worked across the stack,
made numerous changes to the architecture and user interface and helped grow the web development team from just me to include 6 other developers at its peak.
In my time at Clarksons Research I have been responsible for:
• Architecting & implementing a lightweight micro-service architecture.
• Introducing new tooling including TypeScript, Angular 2+, Version Control Managed Databases, F# and .NET Core.
• Legacy system upgrades.
• CI/CD (TeamCity + Octopus)
• Migration from Subversion source control to Git.
• Introducing vibrant new ways of viewing data including limited use of d3.js
• Design and implementation of a novel data input/validation website for end-users.
• Refactoring and improving authentication systems. Unifying disparate databases, Dual Factor Authentication, API Authen-
tication, etc.
• Recruiting, training and mentoring junior developers & contractors.
1
• Guiding GDPR compliance on web interfaces.
In October 2018 I switched from working full-time in the London office to working one day per week remotely whilst studying
full-time for a Masters in Data Science at Aberystwyth University. During this time, I provided a more hands-off role which was
focused on security critical development, code reviews and discussion of proposed architectural improvements.
