Senior Design & Development Engineer (Structures)
Virgin Atlantic Airlines.
In this role I act as on-site Structures focal in support of line & base maintenance, reporting remotely to the
Fleet Technical Management organisation. I hold EASA Part 21 Technical Verification Engineer (TVE) and Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) approval for design and release of repairs and modifications. I am a
Part-M CAMO signatory responsible for managing airworthiness requirements across all VAA fleet types. My
responsibilities in this role include:
• Acting as CVE, TVE and Compiler/Designer under Virgin Atlantic's EASA Part-21J approval to support both line and base maintenance operations on a 24-hour on-call basis. Responsible for all
fleet types which include A330, A340, B747 and B787 and all associated off-wing components.
• Provision of on-site engineering support to the Part 145 organisation and oversight of same as a
representative of the Part 21 DO, Part M CAMO and Aircraft Asset Management organisations.
• Instigated and delivered the design, project management and implementation of a fleetwide real-time
electronic damage and repair reporting/recording system.
• Compilation and audit of aircraft records, including physical aircraft surveys during ARC inspections,
end of lease / aircraft sale inspections and mid-lease audits.
• Review and acceptance of new aircraft production concessions and manufacturer commitments.
• Entry-into service preparations and process development for the B787-9 and A350-1000.
• Ongoing liaison with manufacturers and regulators on continuing airworthiness and reliability issues.
• Management of structural repair approvals and associated continuing airworthiness requirements
across all fleets.
• Authoring of engineering department procedures and technical communications to the wider
organisation in support of regulatory compliance and business improvement.
• Creation, review and investigation of safety / occurrence reports using an electronic safety

Locally led a small, self-managing team located within a large MRO facility, reporting remotely to the Technical Services organisation. In this role I held responsibility for design of structural repair solutions for a
fleet of 350+ 737NG aircraft, covering 59 line stations and 6 heavy maintenance lines. My duties included:
• Providing 24-hour on-call engineering support of both line and base maintenance. Development of AOG temporary repair schemes, negotiation of ferry flight approvals and management of permanent
repairs/terminating actions.
• Held the role of Design Engineer within the Ryanair Part-21J organisation and support of the Ryanair
Part-145 line and base maintenance organisations.
• Production of high-quality work in the high-pressure environment of a large low-cost airline. Required
to manage time and resources effectively to handle high volumes of work with no direct supervision in support of business objectives.
• Fluency with AMOS maintenance software, use of engineering production drawings, aircraft technical
documents (SRM/AIPC/AMM/CMM) and MS Office software.
• Liaison/negotiation with lessor representatives during mid-lease audits and end-of-lease technical
acceptance. Commercial exposure through end-of-lease negotiations on behalf of the customer and Part-145 organisation.
• Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a fleet-wide corrosion control & prevention
programme (CPCP), and developing maintenance programme amendments/aircraft modifications to minimise corrosion findings.
• General Part M / CAMO responsibilities including review of manufacturer Service Letters/Service
Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives with responsibility for recommending implementation, preparing
cost/benefit reports, planning of manpower/resources and administrative setup.
• Technical liaison with aircraft and component manufacturers, maintenance organisations and
engineering staff both remotely and on-site. Responsibility for regulatory approval of repairs and modifications to the fleet.
• Provision of technical support directly to Part-145 production staff in the hangar environment and remote technical assistance to line engineering staff.
• Maintenance of aircraft structural records using the MyBoeingFleet system and preparation of records
for disposal. Rectification of discrepancies found during ARC inspections and mid-lease audits.
• Development and implementation of process improvements to reduce costs and enhance safety.
