I was given a permanent rotational band five post in 2017, gaining experience in various specialties
including enteral feeding and nutrition support post-surgery, oncology and outpatients. I was able to work towards competencies within the Intensive Care Unit under supervision, which involved
developing my skills in providing dietetic care for more complex nutritional support patients.
I was responsible for the cardiac and orthopaedic wards and held general outpatient clinics focusing
mostly on weight management, Type 2 Diabetes, lipid lowering and coeliac disease. I worked
closely with the cardiac and orthopaedic MDT members to ensure both inpatient and outpatients are
provided with evidence base nutritional advice and dietetic treatment plans.
In addition to a clinical case load, I provided training and created supportive literature for all
members of the catering department. I worked with the chef to analyse the nutritional content and code allergens for the hospital menu.
