I have excellent organisational, research, writing, fact-checking and proofreading skills and work mostly as a home-based editor.
In my most recent role as a Senior Online Editor , I was responsible for making decisions on news coverage and digesting complex and lengthy documents into bite-size plain English news excerpts to strict deadlines. I ensured all content, whether internal or provided by external contributors, was consistent with house style and tone of voice. I was also responsible for checking and final sign-off of news created by junior editors and worked closely with teams across the business and external stakeholders.
I am experienced using content management systems and working in HTML and XML. I am also comfortable training junior staff and deputising for managing editors when required.
My role as a Managing Editor helped me to enhance my team building skills. I set and enforced editorial guidelines and policies for news and feature content, set staff objectives and carried out appraisals.
In all roles I have been the prime contact for technical updates, customer services, marketing and editorial queries concerning my areas of responsibility.
