I'm offering
While most of my career has been spent in project management, working with social entrepreneurs and charities to innovate for better user experience, I've recently specialised in writing and content design. I love working with a tiny amount of words (for example, an SMS) to craft the perfect message, based on good quality user insight, to nudge a user forward and create great UX.
Most recently, I've been working in digital healthcare, designing order journeys for a very successful start up, and iterating messaging for a major NHS Trust's remote monitoring platform. I'm a regular writer for a disability charity, and I work with service designers, user researchers, product owners, developers and subject specialists (for example, clinicians).
I love words, and I love subtext. I will pore over a single sentence to understand how it might be interpreted by a user, and how we can squeeze the most out of every word. I also love problem solving using a person-centred approach; I was a lead author on a recent online course in Design Thinking for Health and Social Care (available on FutureLearn).
I enjoy editing and restructuring reports, funding bids and investment proposals (I've written many successful bids to private and public funders). I like making sense of complex ideas, developing concepts and value propositions that are clear and well communicated.
I didn't start out as a writer, and I think that helps. I've had a career that's led me to get involved in project development at every level, with every type of person, so I have a much better understanding of people than I would if I'd just specialised in my twenties.
