1. Before becoming a copywriter I worked (briefly) as a sculptor in the Bay Area and as an ethnographic researcher in the Alaskan bush 2. My ad career began in account services. I quickly realized I preferred the creative side. I worked for some great agencies, including Crispin Porter Bogusky, where I won a slew of awards and learned to drink bourbon 3. I went freelance as Miami Writer in the 1990s, was recruited by a travel company to work on its rebranding team, returned to the agency world for eight years, and finally became Miami Writer again in 2010
