I am a postgraduate student who has recently completed an MA in Translation Studies from Durham University. I have a long-standing interest in foreign languages and the process of translation and both my academic studies and my recent job experience have been closely related to the use of foreign languages. I am enthusiastic, hard-working and eager to gain experience of the translation industry. I have completed a month-long traineeship at the European Commission's Directorate General for Translation in Brussels as well as working in France for many years as a tour guide and language representative.

• 4-week traineeship with the European Commission's DGT in Brussels
• Had the opportunity to translate a wide variety of text types including: a speech, legal text, high-level meeting minutes, agricultural policy, transport policy, customs policy and citizens' letters
• Texts translated were officially submitted to and circulated by the European Commission
• Trainee report was very positive- stated that my translations "were of consistently high quality" and that I "respected deadlines without fail"
• Opportunity to spend time in and gain experience of an institution of this calibre was invaluable
• Able to hone and improve knowledge of SDL Trados Studio and other related translation software
