Over the years, I have worked on many projects, which have given me a wide range of skills in software engineering, data science, as well as artificial general intelligence. Through these experiences, I have become a nimble and interdisciplinary data scientist. I am able to combine methods from multiple fields, from machine learning to cognitive science, and apply them to a wide range of problems.
My first project involved building econometrics software while working at the Boston Fed. Then, during my PhD, I built software for experimental economics, which measures people’s causal beliefs and how they learn from data. This project drew on cognitive science theory and probabilistic graphical models. To build it, I contributed to several open source projects, including
a Bayesian Networks package that was maintained by the then director of data science at eBay, who hired me into the structured data team. At eBay, I jump-started an NLP project that involved ontologies and the semantic web. At the same time, I began to develop CollectiWise, an ongoing startup project for collective planning software. Our software lets people express their beliefs, make predictions, and combine their insights for better collective decisions. The long-term aim of this project is to develop systems to leverage the cognitive diversity of citizens to improve democracy. In the meantime, I'd like to help you with your data and intelligence challenges.
