Throughout my career as a designer I have worked with many retailers and brands who have wanted to diversify their product stream. In some cases, it has been brands that have never launched a product but they can see the opportunities to make their brand more diverse and accessible.
During my time in retail I worked with many overseas manufacturers developing new products and expanding successful ranges. Over the last 2 years I have consulted directly with textiles, glass, plastics and ceramic manufacturers based in Portugal, China and India. This has given me a greater understanding of the development and manufacturing process and has greatly affected the way that I design.
Throughout my career, I have always been a keen follower of consumer trends and how they affect the products that I design. I believe that to have a successful range you need to understand consumer buying habits, design trends, your customer and brand but also have a good understanding of how the final product is manufactured.
