Operating like a start-up inside a large organisation, my team transformed Standard Chartered's Financial Markets trading
function, digitising pricing, trade capture, analysis, risk management and trade processing, and opened up the banks cross-border and mobile payments capabilities globally.
Responsible for business strategy, design, implementation and product ownership of SCB's Straight2Bank exchange (S2BX)
electronic trading platform, from inception. Electronic FX trades self-originated by clients reached over 80% of all client FX
trades in 2017, from 9% in 2009 (2017 6 million trades, $8 trillion volume, $500 million P/L). Developed associated compliance
systems to manage and report MIFID II Best Execution obligations globally for the bank.
Alongside this global product management role, was responsible for all regional requirements across Africa, MENAP and South
Asia, (29 presence countries) including ensuring system resilience, compliance and client service quality.
➢ Partner with Global and Regional FM eCommerce Heads and Financial Markets Senior Management to develop platform
and SaaS strategy. Work closely with Trading Heads to develop the pricing strategy, and with Sales Heads and specialist
Salespeople to develop the distribution strategy and ensure alignment of the development road map to all needs
➢ Part of Global governance team for FX to ensure compliance with Global strategy and product/region/country needs.
➢ Work with other internal stakeholders including Transaction Banking and Wealth Management teams to ensure delivered
system matched the needs of payments, custody, cash and asset management
➢ Work closely with developers to ensure alignment of technology and business, agree the development approach, validate
functional requirements, test and feedback across multiple release phases of the product. Attend scrums and manage
backlogs and user stories. Good understanding and experience of the software development lifecycle
➢ Manage regional requirement gathering across Middle East, Africa and South Asia working with Sales, Trading, Clients,
Operations, Legal, Compliance and Admin teams to capture and prioritise all needs across multiple asset classes
➢ Partner with key stakeholders in Legal and Compliance to develop robust platform agreements and ensure all local regulatory
and compliance approvals are in place to allow us to deliver the platform to clients in all presence countries. Also ensured
governance for the product across myriad jurisdictional compliance regimes
