I'm offering

A dedicated and knowledgeable researcher with experience in developing and completing qualitative research projects. A highly versatile and resourceful individual whose thorough and perceptive approach to assignments allows for the efficient development and completion of research goals.

My experience as a Grade Control Geologist at Stillwater Mining Company allowed me to cultivate a foundation of collaborating on large-scale projects within a diverse team. Maintaining clear and consistent communication between members of multiple departments across four separate shift crews was essential to ensuring our departments were meeting mine-plan goals. I used Microsoft Excel and Word, Autocad, and Maptek Vulcan to create detailed reports to maintain a consistent dialogue with team members in multiple departments across multiple shift crews. Directing the mining operations in active mining areas allowed me to develop my versatility and resourcefulness as a problem solver and independent thinker. I was regularly required to adapt to unforeseen ground conditions or structural offsets and adjust our original mine plan to account for changing circumstances without feedback from my superiors. These situations required that I find immediate solutions to ambiguous problems by drawing upon my work experience, my knowledge of mining plans, and my understanding of the preferences and competing interests between different departments.

I have extensive international and field research experience. As an undergraduate I was involved in two separate international collaborative research projects in Zhejiang Province, China and the Gobi/Gobi-Altai Mountains, Mongolia. These projects provided me with extensive experience working in a professional field research environment in unique, remote field research sites. As a Grade Control Geologist I enhanced my field research skills by performing daily survey measurements, relevant sampling, and providing detailed maps of active mining areas.

My experience doing qualitative research has enhanced my ability to learn quickly and self-educate. When introduced to new concepts I understand them quickly and I am capable of becoming proficient in unfamiliar tasks through self-education as well as in-job training. When given directions I follow them quickly and see tasks through to completion. I am not afraid to ask questions in order to clarify directions and I also believe well thought out questions are necessary in order to maintain a unified team conception of project priorities and goals.
