I joined NPS (Shoes) Ltd in 2008 as a Financial Controller because I saw tremendous potential in the business which at the time had just been bought by a new owner as the business was facing closure by the previous owners due to bad debts. The business manufacturer's footwear to quality retailers
nationally and internationally also makes footwear for well known celebrities.
When I started with NPS I updated the accounting procedures and was instrumental in implementing
new operational systems to bring cost effective efficiencies and quality needed to attract new business.
I implemented a system of cost controls and analysed all costs which has resulted in increased profits from the savings made. I drafted new management packs for management meetings and carry out all
financial procedures for all the three businesses the present owner has. I was responsible for the day to
day running of the office and overseeing staff.
I drafted ISO 9001 and new company policies and implemented the upgrade and maintenance of the
Factory which was run down including the health and safety procedures and risk assessments of the business. I have successfully applied for grants for staff training and new machinery.
All these procedures contributed to attracting high profile customers such as John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and ASOS which the business supplies and increased the business turnover by £2 million. The
business originally had 27 staff and now has 80 and 5 sites.
In 2015 I was nominated for a National Business Award: The National Business woman of the Year.
