Carla Andrade is a Visual Artist with a Degree in Audio-visual Studies and Philosophy; and she has just finished an M.A. in Artists' Film & Moving Image at Goldsmiths University of London. This intersection between the means of visual expression and a field close to reflection is precisely one of the defining facets of her work. She carried out Artist Residencies in Iceland, Sweden, Nepal, Chile, and Paris, among others. Her work was exhibited at Contemporary Art Centers such as Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao (Spain), CDAN (Spain), MAC Gas Natural Fenosa (Spain), MARCO (Spain), COLEP (France), Le 104 in Paris (France), etc. At Film and Photography International Festivals such as International Film Festival Rotterdam, Zinebi, Jihlava, Cali, IBAFF, Filmadrid, Curtocircuito, L’Alternativa (CCCB Barcelona), Cineuropa, Alchemy Film Festival, (S8), PhotoEspaña, Mois de la Photo off, Encontros da Imagem, among others; and in galleries and institutions from countries such as US, Brazil, Chile, Romania, Sweden, Germany, UK, South Korea, Taiwan and Portugal. She won awards including the First Prize of Plastic Arts in 2013 at the Complutense University of Madrid, Emerging Artists Award Absolut 2013, Frac Villa Acquisition Award 2013 Luis Adelantado Gallery, Women Award-Forum-Dialogue Alliance Francaise / Pilar Citoler 2012, Photography Award Madrid SUMMA 2015, among others. She got grants from Injuve, BilbaoArte Foundation, VEGAP, Agadic, Institut Français and the Scholarships for Abroad Artistic Creation Gas Natural Fenosa. In addition, her photographic work was part of multiple publications, both national and international.

Through Photography, Video, Film, Sound and Installation, she exposes her own language-reality with the aim of generating content and thought by the aesthetic experience and altered states of consciousness. She uses the “elimination” and the “denial” as a method to return to the most primitive and unconscious; a direct experience without the necessity of illuminating with the reason, in order to situate herself in a kind of resistance to the dictatorship of the structures and patterns that are pre-established.
