I'm a communications professional with over 20 years’ experience, mostly in financial services. In the last few years I've found that more and more I'm telling people about change; about why their jobs aren't going to be like they were before, and how this is going to affect them personally. Sometimes it’s good news, sometimes it’s bad news, either way it’s unsettling and raises questions and worries.
Early on in my career I learned that when you’re communicating the most important thing to consider is your audience. So I always put myself in their shoes and I always try to treat people in the same way that I’d like to be treated. Mostly this approach works on adults, I just need to find a way to apply it to my kids.
