Senior Courses Co-Ordinator
NHS- LONDON NORTH WEST UNIVERSITY HEALTHCARE TRUST.
At present I co-manage the courses administration service (CAS) at Northwick Park Hospital, here I organise 14 national courses from start to finish and am in charge of 5 trust fund accounts. The role requires a large amount of clinical knowledge, which spans the medical discipline as we run courses such as Care of the Critically Ill Surgical patient (CCrISP) for surgical trainees and Neonatal Life Support (NLS) targeted at neonatal doctors, midwives and neonatal nurses. As such I have strong experience forming relationships with a variety of healthcare professionals.
My key responsibilities are:
⋄ Offering a consulting service to healthcare professionals interested in running courses; where I advise on costings/planning/advertising/timing/audience type
⋄ Recruitment and coordination of course lecturers, informing them of their relevant responsibilities and allocation of teaching materials.
⋄ Arrangement of publicity/advertising, I have personally launched the CAS twitter page which is used to market our courses to a wider audience and has acted as a money saving initiative for our department as we previously relied on heavily priced journal advertising.
⋄ Coordination of a complex calendar and bookings of rooms, facilities and catering.
⋄ Attendance at course meetings/ external events.
⋄ Handling of all queries and administering applications from prospective candidates.
⋄ Ordering and set-up of all course materials and technical equipment.
⋄ Liaison with medical companies for sponsorship.
⋄ Running course scenarios/ time keeping on the day of the course.
⋄ Maintenance of course budgets, including the handling of invoices and expenses
