2011 - 2014
job
Head of Digital Services Creative Department
Capgemini UK PLC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Head of Department: During the conception of the new Digital Services business unit, my role was shaped to front the creative technologies arm. This sub department housed all of the creative focused individuals, consisting of UX experts, front end engineers, artwork designers and application specific programmers (e.g. Drupal Themers). The size of the team fluctuated between 20 – 30 individuals working concurrently across multiple assignments.
Team Lead: Overseeing the progress, quality and timekeeping of multiple teams, across multiple projects. This includes non-UK based resources, front end, back end, ‘hardcore’ developers, test teams and live support. The team members may not work under Capgemini and total numbers have reached over 100 staff per programme.
Project Management: Due to coverage of the role, a proportion of tasks fall into project management categorisation, including estimations, staff resourcing, and client management and expectation control. Reporting directly to the programme steering groups and/or client stakeholders.
Code Development: Combining the above responsibility, I am also required to provide input the deliverables, this may require front end, back end code development. As well as code reviewing and feedback. My specialism lies within, minimal, accessible and performance driven front-end code development and Drupal build and configuration, generally classed as ‘theme’ and ‘build skills’.
Personal Mentor: As part of the company policy, senior staff are required to act as a ‘reviewer’ to staff at lower grade. Generally, this is usually two colleagues, I mentored four at the height of a recruitment influx, with a further three requesting regular conversations and advice.
EMPLOYMENT ACHIEVEMENTS:
First year promotion: Due to my consistent high-quality performance I am one of a select few who have been awarded (against a rigid company policy) a mid-year promotion.
Peer commendation: I was part of a very small team to develop the redesign version of the Royal Mail Group website, this project was smoothly managed, developed on time within budget, and despite careful client expectation management, still managed to deliver them a ‘wow factor’ website. My input into this was credited by Capgemini UK CEO, as well as Royal Mail Groups CEO.
Client recommendation: Due to my close relationship development with the client, I was requested to work of each and every enhancement phase of the programme, my superiors noted this, and my input is was requested across multiple programmes. Often this came in ‘critical’ situations where I was able to provide cool and calculated advice or assistance to resolve potential issues.
Working process pioneer: During my time as a contractor I noticed several ‘holes’ in our working patterns. For each and every re-design site on the programme, I adapted our strategic approach to maximise the success rate and reduce deliverable time. I was then requested to document and present this model across the wider business community within Capgemini.
Revenue return: During my time in the senior role within the company I worked on delivering projects that have provided and excellent profitable return. This has been put down to my ability to accurately plan, resource and manage the tasks required for a final deliverable as well as assist in the production of high-quality code.

job
Senior Drupal Developer
Capgemini UK PLC.
Initially starting as a contractor, I was brought into Capgemini in the early stages of the Royal Mail Group programme ‘phase one - migration’. My role was to lead the content migration side of the requirement. This involved in building brand new themes that had to look exactly like the existing sites, without loading the huge existing asset overhead. As well undertaking client workshop sessions, interpreting and logically assessing any client requests, I was requested to give input into architectural decisions, and views onto best approach for a variety of obstacles.
During my time as a contractor I became lead of the ‘front end’ team of theme developers and site builders, as the programme evolved and matured and better understanding of the Drupal framework was educated upwards to previous non Drupal savvy decision makers - Various teams worked in collaboration to delivery the end result, the heads of each team pivotal to the success.
Due to the success of my input I was offered a permanent position after 9 months of contracting. Initially brought in at an official role of Senior Creative Drupal Developer.
