RBS contracted Roshan as a lead architect working across Open Banking Phase 3 and PSD2 RTS. Roshan represented RBS at the OBIE (Open Banking Implementation Entity), CMA9 (Competition and Markets Authority 9 Banks) to challenge and ensure that the needs of the Bank were met across industry.
Deliverables include the full Architecture Blueprint for Open Banking Phase 3 taken through governance and a number of architecture design documents spanning payments (Standing Orders, Future Dated, Faster Payments, SEPA, SEPA Domestic, International) and customer and account transactions with third party providers (ASPSP, AISP, PISP, CBPII) across Open Banking. Dependent deliverables such as Combined Limits Store were lead by Roshan as required for delivery into the OB programme.
Additionally, Roshan lead PSD2 RTS architecture elements including SCA (Strong Customer Authentication), Onboarding of PSD2 TPPs (eIDAS, QTSP, revocation checks), commercial partners and internal consumer of mandatory and discretionary APIs across Payments, Account Transactions and Management Information.

Technologies involved PaaS (Platform as a Service), IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), VMs, VIPs, F5 Load Balancers and physical heritage infrastructure. The development pipeline utilised PaaS development environments with Jenkins, Gitlab and Cucumber. Openshift for promotion to a variety of PaaS environments and the use of Confluence and Jira for collaboration and sprint planning respectively.
Roshan worked in a high-pressure environment with demanding stakeholders to successfully deliver the architecture and infrastructure required for the launch of Open Banking API changes and the PSD2 3D Secure replacement and SHA Charging successfully in advance of regulatory deadlines.

Execution of trades was undertaken in FAST with referrals automated through the AWD workflow product. SAP Business Objects provided the business with management information through a dashboard.
The design exploited use of the Sparx Enterprise Architect tool with adherence to architecture principles such as simplification and reuse and conformance with standards.
