2012 - 2013
job
Asbestos Surveyor
SGS.
Mar 2014 - November 2017
MIS Environmental Ltd was a UKAS accredited, predominantly UK based company who were acquired by the multi-national inspection, verification and testing company SGS in 2013. SGS have subsequently continued MIS' core business of conducting asbestos surveying, management and airborne fibre monitoring.
My work involves carrying out management and refurbishment/demolition surveys for a range of public and private sector clients including housing associations, local authorities, civil engineering companies, the National Health Service (NHS) and industrial premises. I have been involved in many large scale projects including, demolition surveys of a large plant facility for Rio Tinto Alcan which also included drawing the entire site in graphic design software.
I have always ensured that my work is of the highest quality and have always comfortably achieved the standards required by the company. On all site audits I've demonstrated competency and a methodical approach which has enabled me to surpass the requirements designated within HSG264 - 'Asbestos: The survey guide' and the standards stipulated under UKAS accreditation (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
In 2014 I was selected to undertake a secondary role within the company of ordering all the company uniforms and equipment for the environmental department. In March 2015 I was elected as the forum representative for the SGS environment department nationwide. The meetings are designed to discuss questions raised by employees of SGS to create a better working environment.
Key Tasks:
• Consulting with clients
• Organising, managing and prioritising workload
• Working using own initiative to complete tasks
• Tailoring surveys to meet the client's specifications
• Ensuring clients were made aware of further services available from the company after the survey such as asbestos management, bulk sampling and air testing during removal.
• Composing clear and concise reports and plans then advising clients regarding any issues.
• Build strong relationships with decision makers and managers, maintaining reputation of company and securing further work.
• Ensuring work complied with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and adhered to guidance documents published by the HSE.

Business Owner
Advanced Tiling.
In January 2008 I started my own tiling company, offering wall and floor tiling to domestic and commercial clients. As my reputation grew so did the workload I secured a number of large local government contracts, employing five staff within the first twelve months of trading. I then identified an opportunity to diversify into bathroom, kitchen fitting and wood flooring installations. This lead to employing a further three members of staff.
