job
Business Development Manager
Montague Parr Ltd.
I opened up the new office in Croydon, but the income stream is very long term. You have to wait to get the timing right, as you have to take over contracts that run for 3 years plus. Then it can take 6 months to sign the deal. I have signed big contracts with civil engineering, motor racing companies; but our business model is restricting our business opportunities.

Conservatories Designer Consultant
Anglian Ltd.
promoted to Conservatories Designer Consultant.
I started selling windows and doors, as an interim job filler; but within 6 months we were taken over by Anglian and I was promoted to designing and selling conservatories, because I understood "the building physics - bases and conservatories sitting on them". I sold 1:3, but Anglian completely computerised their Norwich production facility into a high tech production facility; which was good and well done. However the sales force were subjected to 70% aggressive company discounts schemes from Oct- Mar each year to keep the Norwich factory operational. Salespeople were offered in the winter 6-months, £50 for a sale; as huge 70%+ discounts left nothing for sales force.

Senior Business Consultant / Senior-Management Consultant
Barclays Bank PLC.
8 divisions.
Based in initially in New Retail Banking Ideas Division to generate new ideas & install them and purchase IT systems for them over 3500 branches for Corporate/Private customers. Then Promoted to Treasury Division and consulting to 8 divisions. Treasury hired me out to themselves and other divisions for £1k + expenses per day, to consult to divisional directors on the services and products desired and feasibility and then to buy the required IT systems. Consulted to New Banking Ideas Division, Treasury Division, Clearing Division, Credit Cards Division, International Banking Division, SWIFT and International Banking Payments, Dealing Rooms, FX Money Markets, Group Taxation Division, Size of teams up to 24 people and budgets up to £10M.
I was involved in the remodelling of Barclays Branches with improved ATMs built into the frontages.
Saved the bank on one project "International Banking Group" saved 10% (say £50M+) of a corporate loans book of £5Billion / on A Treasury Division project saved the bank £2M/ The Clearing Division cash transit project saved the bank £500K.
The bank standardized on IBM PCs and Word-Perfect; then Dec All-In-One WP/Messaging system and various proprietary software.
My job was to liase with Divisional Managing Directors and discuss their business requirements and feasibility and it's IT requirements. Then form a plan with the Div MD to obtain the IT systems to process their business requirements. Namely research the international IT software market place and purchase new applications software for the Division. I left with silver handshake as the bank dumbed down, and made redundant vast swathes of professionals and Casino Banking with billion pound's fines.
ARBAT Banking Systems.
Sales Manager for Northern Europe/ Benelux and Switzerland - sold £2.5M per annum of International Banking Systems throughout Europe, from Norway to Italy, and USA and Pakistan. The directors were incompetent, and the company went broke, even after a CDC Inc. take over.
BIS Banking Systems.
Sales Consultant for Asia, and we had the opportunity in Pakistan to save BIS; by having a bank buy the transferred time dated IBM S34/38 systems, to the future IBM 4300 and larger mainframes series; but the directors would not back the director backing me. So BIS went broke when IBM gradually discontinued the small S3/32/34/38 ranges.
Group Company Secretary- General Manager - FC Finance Group Limited
The partial owner- MD ran the bank with the Managers as supervisory clerks and new ideas or computing was regarded as stupid cost additions. The bank had been run into the ground; There was no computer system, just punched cards tabulators. Over 5 years, I had to revise the whole group of consumer credit, leasing, property finance operations, training staff, installed a computer system, improved credit underwriting and collections of arrears, marketing and branch networks, and turned it around from losses to a £5 million per annum profit.
We financed about 8 property developers and run the interest roll up scheme for interest and we took then revenue from the first 30% of sales until we had our money back.
I left due to the MD treating the group as his own bank account; and presenting me with cheques which were not in accordance with his director's service contract; and with me refusing to sign huge cheques, which did not meet his director's service contract. However, The CWS/Co-Op Bank the main 80% owners, said let him have the money just to keep the peace- I said no we have public shareholders. Now we all know what happened to Co-Op Bank - insolvency and sold for £100!
Computer programmer- systems analyst- projects manager (IBM Project Manager System) - Working in J Henry Schroder Wagg Merchant Bankers.
Working on banking and leasing systems, plus consumer credit consultant and programmer-analyst-designer. IBM- 1401/ 360/ 370/ AS400/ S3-S31/ Honeywell equivalents/ Tandem Dual Processors. IBM SPS-Autocoder - COBOL.
